Season 1 Weekly Recaps
Week 2: Close Battles, Big Responses, and Momentum Building Across the League
MPL Season 1 rolled into Week 2, and the action continued to deliver exactly what this league is built on: competitive matches, team growth, and a community-first spirit on every court.
The week opened on Tuesday, June 9, with Stones River Elite taking on the Stone Defenders. In the first matchup, Stones River Elite earned a 2–0 win with scores of 11–9 and 11–4. Game 1 was a strong battle, with the Stone Defenders pushing hard and keeping the pressure on late before Stones River Elite finished strong. In Game 2, Stones River Elite settled in and carried that momentum to close out the match.
The two teams met again later that night, and Stones River Elite continued their strong start to the season with another 2–0 win, taking the games 11–4 and 11–7. The Stone Defenders showed fight throughout the night and continued to build experience and rhythm, while Stones River Elite showed steady execution and consistency across both matches.
Also on Tuesday, June 9, Mount Trashmore Mafia and The Forge gave us one of the most exciting matches of the young season. Mount Trashmore Mafia earned a 2–1 win in a three-game battle with scores of 9–11, 11–7, and 13–11. The Forge took Game 1, but Mount Trashmore Mafia responded with a strong Game 2 and then outlasted The Forge in a dramatic third game that needed extra points to decide it. It was a great example of both teams competing hard, adjusting, and battling all the way to the finish.
On Wednesday, June 10, Bainbridge Alliance and the Rutherford Supercells stepped into the spotlight with two tight matchups of their own. In Match 1, Bainbridge Alliance earned a 2–1 win with scores of 11–8, 7–11, and 12–10. The Supercells answered back in Game 2 to force a deciding third game, and Game 3 turned into another close finish before Bainbridge Alliance pulled it out by two.
The second matchup between Bainbridge Alliance and the Rutherford Supercells brought more of the same competitive energy. Bainbridge Alliance again came away with a 2–1 win, this time by scores of 13–11, 6–11, and 11–8. The Supercells showed great resilience by responding in the second game, while Bainbridge Alliance showed composure in the key moments to secure another hard-fought match.
Week 2 wrapped up on Thursday, June 11, with Mount Trashmore Mafia and The Forge meeting again. Mount Trashmore Mafia earned a 2–0 win with scores of 11–7 and 12–10. The Forge pushed the second game right to the edge, but Mount Trashmore Mafia stayed steady late and finished the week with another strong result.
After two weeks of play, the league is starting to take shape, but every team is still finding its rhythm, learning its lineups, and building chemistry. Stones River Elite continued its impressive early-season run, Mount Trashmore Mafia made a strong statement in Week 2, and Bainbridge Alliance picked up two tough wins in tight three-game matches. At the same time, the Stone Defenders, The Forge, and the Rutherford Supercells all showed the kind of fight and competitive spirit that will make the rest of the season fun to follow.
Week 2 brought close finishes, comeback moments, and plenty of team energy. If the first two weeks are any indication, MPL Season 1 is only going to get better from here.
Week 1: Opening Week Brings Energy, Teamwork, and Early Momentum!
MPL Season 1 is officially underway, and opening week gave us a great first look at what this league is all about: competitive games, team chemistry, and a community of players showing up ready to battle and have fun.
The season opened on Tuesday, June 2, with The Forge taking on the Stone Defenders. The Forge came out sharp in their first match of the season, earning a 2–0 win with scores of 11–5 and 11–2. On Wednesday, June 3, The Forge and Stone Defenders met again, and the second matchup brought a tighter finish. The Forge took Game 1 11–5, but the Stone Defenders made a strong push in Game 2 before The Forge closed it out 11–7. It was a great early-season example of teams settling in, making adjustments, and building momentum as the season begins.
Also on Wednesday, June 3, Stones River Elite opened their season against Bainbridge Alliance and turned in a strong performance. Stones River Elite earned a 2–0 win with scores of 11–3 and 11–6. On Thursday, June 4, the Rutherford Supercells and Mount Trashmore Mafia made their MPL debuts in a matchup that brought a lot of personality and energy to the court. In the first meeting, the Supercells earned a 2–0 win with scores of 11–8 and 11–1. Game 1 was a solid battle, with Mount Trashmore Mafia pushing hard and keeping things competitive before the Rutherford Supercells found their rhythm and finished strong.
The second Thursday matchup between the Rutherford Supercells and Mount Trashmore Mafia gave us the first three-game match of the season. Mount Trashmore Mafia came out strong and took Game 1 11–6, showing great response and resilience after the earlier match. The Rutherford Supercells answered back in Game 2 with an 11–4 win, setting up a deciding third game. After the first stretch of matches, The Forge, Stones River Elite, and Rutherford Supercells have all picked up early wins, but the bigger story is that MPL Season 1 is officially alive. Teams are learning their lineups, players are getting valuable reps, and the league is already showing the mix of competition and community that it was built to create.
Opening week gave us strong performances, close moments, first wins, and plenty to build on. If this is the energy we are starting with, MPL Season 1 is going to be a lot of fun.
